LIZ INGRAM

The human condition, with a focus on the human body in nature, is an ongoing preoccupation for me. My art practice attempts to connect the viewer to a sense of place in/as nature - a sense of place that is in serious jeopardy. My source, a site in the northern boreal forest of Alberta, Canada, had been severely affected by settler activities, but due to nature’s raw force and delicate touch we are witness to her regenerative power.

Using metaphorical images of fire and floods, destruction and nurture, our work attempts to express a truth about the pressing need to love, to act, and to find our regenerative place within nature.

ABOUT LIZ

Liz Ingram is Distinguished University Professor Emerita, University of Alberta. She has exhibited in over 300 group and solo exhibitions around the world, and has received awards for prints in Canada, Slovenia, Poland, Korea, Brazil, Estonia, India and Finland. She works in various media including etching, lithography, digital print, and installation.

Honours include: the Order of Canada; the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Medal, Royal Canadian Academy of Arts; City of Edmonton Hall of Fame; Royal Society of Canada.
